Helen will teach a 90 min Yoga class at AYC 2017:

Iyengar-inspired UPSIDE-DOWN-Yoga
Starting off with slow breathing, and then playfully moving through a few basic asanas focusing on technique, before testing out some basic upside- down positions with several variations. The class ends with pleasant relaxation.

Marie Glein has practiced yoga for more than ten years, and she has written a Masters thesis on changing consciousness experiences in yoga. Her yoga teacher education is from Zenit in Trondheim and she is currently building on a 500-hour teacher education with Shiva Rea. She lives in Trondheim with her husband and three children. She regularly teaches classes in vinyasa, pregnancy yoga and baroque classes. Her Vinyasa classes brings elements from yoga philosophy, meditation and getting to know the body from the inside. Through a playful vinyasa flow and focus on breath, the goal of each class is to get one step further on the way in, up and out.

Marie will teach two classes during the AYC 2017:

Flying blanket Vinyasa

Sunday 0900-1030

Let your yoga mat transform into a flying rug in this vibrant and fun vinyas class. Together, we explore balance positions, backbones and new variants of old classics. The focus is on moving your body in a way you have not done before. When our carpets come from the ground, we get a new opportunity to look down on our lives to perhaps get some new perspectives. Be prepared to balance on the edge of your practice.

Yoga Nidra

Sunday 1045-1130

Directly translated yoga nidra means “yogic sleep”, this is a systematic method that involves deep relaxation while retaining full awareness.

In this class, we first make a short asana practice to prepare body and mind. Then follows a short meditation. In the yoga nidra part of the class, students are completely silent in savasana while the teacher guides them through the practice.

In today’s society, many carry around a lot of unnecessary tensions, and yoga nidra can help solve these tensions and give body and mind a greater sense of well-being and inner peace.

Silje Fredheim is a specialist in psychology, a yoga teacher and mindfulness instructor. She has worked to integrate yoga and mindfulness with psychotherapy in psychiatric hospitals over the last 15 years. In addition, she has developed courses to educate health professionals to use mindfulness in the face of patients and for their own health and development. Silje has worked a lot with eating disorders, and is passionate about women’s health and what signals we are sending to those who are growing up today. Silje has a backgrnd from Integral Yoga, Vinyasa, Yin Yoga and MBSR. It is important to her that yoga is for everyone, and her focuse is on attention and presence in the yoga positions.

Silje will teach the following workshop at the AYC 2017:

Workshop: Mindfulness Yoga – How to combine mindfulness and motion to remember that you are whole.

Sunday at 1300-1500

This workshop will use yoga asanas to explore various aspects of attentive attendance; attention to body sensations, feelings and thoughts. We will explore how we can bring our attention into the body and experience the same positions differently depending on how from how we use our attention while practicing. If you often focus on how the body looks from the outside or attaining a particular shape in your asana practice, this workshop will offer another way of practicing yoga. The goal of mindfulness yoga is to use the movement to become more mindfully present in your life. In mindfulness yoga the focus is on being rather than doing, and we use the attitudes of mindfulness practice as a basis for everything we do. In this workshop we will keep a special focus on not-judging, accepting and meeting each position with a beginner’s mind.

Medisinsk Yoga for barn (8-12 år) lørdag kl 11-12

Gunnar has worked as a doctor since 1978. In 1990 began his career in psychiatry. Gunnar has been building up a day based treatment for mental disorders after trauma and neglect. Body-oriented understanding and treatment is important in order to win back the confidence and self-esteem as a basis for further growth.

When psychologist Silje Fredheim in 2003 opened Bodø Yoga Center, Gunnar fulfilled a desire for a form of physical exercise that also gave relaxation and enjoyment. He soon got “hooked” and discovered many good effects by doing yoga. Gunnar started his education in “Yin & Yang Yoga” with Simon Low.  Since then he has participated in various yoga courses and guidelines; with among others Naema Noor, Henrik Allum, Jordan Bloom, David Emerson and Judith Lasater. Gunnar is teaching yoga at “Balansen Health and Lifestyle Centre” and in neighboring communities to Bodø. Gunnar is trying to integrate yoga with knowledge in medicine and psychiatry for a flexible practice that suits individual needs and challenges. For yoga to promote health, both the respect for individual limits in order to avoid damage, and the value of enjoyment and pleasure are important considerations to take.

Gunnar has written the book “YOGA as THERAPY” together with Maja Thune.

Under Arctic Yoga Conference vil hun holde følgende klasser:

Elin vil undervise følgende klasse under årets AYC:

«Herre i eget hus «

Selve yoga-timen vil vare i 75 minutter.
